Nestled in the Peak District National Park is the stately home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire Chatsworth House Also in the National Park are the historic market towns of Ashbourne, Matlock and Matlock Bath, the Spa towns of Buxton and Bakewell, famous for its tarts and puddings. ![]() Within Derby City there are numerous attractions including Royal Crown Derby the Assembly Rooms & Guildhall Theatre and Derby Playhouse. For more information contact Derby Tourist Information Centre. A visit to the Midlands is not complete without attending one of our many theme parks, Alton Towers being the most famous. Set in 500 acres of spectacular gardens, parks and woodland with more than 120 superb attractions. In and around the Derbyshire area there are so many leisure parks that we could not possibly write them all down, but here are just a few - Trentham Leisure Park, Waterworld, Drayton Manor Park & Zoo, Gulliver's Kingdom and the Heights of Abraham both in Matlock Bath. Besides these there are also places to visit like the Blue John Cavern , The National Tramway Museum at Crich, The Denby Visitor Centre and the Peak District Mining Museum. The list is endless. You will find that a weekend is just not enough time to see all the all the exciting and beautiful attractions that we have in this area. ![]() Coming back down to earth and something with a little more history is Burton-upon-Trent, the Brewing Capital of England. Visit the heritage centre and the Coors Visitor Centre & Museum of Brewing to see and taste how our local beer is made. We are situated very close to the National Forest including over 30 different woodland attractions. There are a number of National Trust properities in the area including Calke Abbey, Kedleston Hall and Sudbury Hall and Museum of Childhood. Every year there are over 30 meetings at Uttoxeter Racecourse including evening meetings. Apart from Derby City Centre which has a large shopping area there are also a number of other shopping outlets in the area including McArthurGlen, East Midlands Designer Outlet, David Napier Boutique and Factory Shop in Alfreton and Peak Village at Rowsley between Bakewell and Matlock near the Wind in the Willows Attraction. |
