Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn!

Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn!

While some may (prematurely) say that the beginning of September marks the start of autumn, they’re not quite right. Here at Littleover Lodge, we’ve held tight to the dying embers of summer until today.

Today (Monday 23rd September) is the Autumn Equinox, also known as the beginning of the new season. The equinox happens when the sun is positioned exactly above the equator between the Northern & Southern Hemisphere. And for those of us over here in the Northern Hemisphere it means the beginning of autumn.

Don’t Let The Dark Evenings Get You Down

The beginning of autumn means that the days get shorter and our evenings get darker, which for some can be a bit of a downer. But here at Littleover Lodge, we’re a glass half full kind of bunch so we’re looking forward to all of the fun events coming up in the next few months. There’s Halloween, Bonfire Night and (of course) Christmas and New Year all to come. What’s more, autumn is a beautiful season. As the weather shifts and begins to cool, the verdant green leaves turn to burnt orange causing an explosion of colour. And when 5th November rolls around the crisp nights are filled with the smell of bonfires and the noise of fireworks lighting up the landscape. When you think about it, summer has nothing on autumn!

But if you’re struggling to overcome the post-summer slump, why not pay us a visit here at Littleover Lodge? We’ve got a delicious seasonal menu on offer packed with the very best local produce ready and waiting to be tasted. Or, for a perfect getaway, our gorgeous rooms are waiting for you to escape to if you fancy a bit of ‘me’ time away from the hustle and bustle.

Live Music At Littleover Lodge

To further keep your spirits up way into the winter, we’ll be hosting a series of live music evenings over the next few months. Headlined by singer and guitarist Ross Parker, you can enjoy smooth jazz, blues and other hit songs performed in warm, cosy and relaxing surroundings. Keep an eye out for upcoming events over at our dedicated Live Music Calendar and plan your visit to see Ross in action soon!
